Admissions Consulting

We know that a great MCAT score can get your application noticed, but even a 95th percentile+ MCAT applicant has a 20% chance of not being accepted by any medical school. Without an impactful personal statement, activity essays and secondary applications, applicants won’t receive interview invites. Our admissions consulting can help with each aspect of this arduous process, giving you personalized help based on your dream schools and current application strength!

Laura

“Tim was willing to help me bright and early on a Saturday morning, as well as late in the evenings, and together not only did he help me understand how to apply, but also helped me write a well thought out personal statement. Tim took the time to explain writing and revising in ways I did not think about originally. He also guided me through multiple essay drafts until he thought it was a competitive statement. I am also grateful for Tim’s never ending support throughout my test prep and essay writing, as he was always someone who believed in me. If I could, I would choose Tim again to help me with both the MCAT and personal statement.”

Derrald

Prior to my first tutoring session, I was a plastic bag floating in the wind, being blown in all directions. MCAT Self Prep helped ground me and gave me direction for my personal statement. For anyone struggling with their personal statements, I highly recommend getting yourself a tutor. It is a worthwhile investment.

Deana Testimonial

Deanna

“What I liked most about Kathryn was that I felt she understood how I was feeling about the MCAT, resorting to tutoring, and how to best tutor someone with my personality. She provided me the skills and encouragement I needed to continue studying and to improve my MCAT score, and of course, we had a good few laughs in between :). Moreover, she helped me with my primary and secondary medical school applications—her writing skills are impeccable and I probably improved my writing skills more during my time being tutored by her, than I did in during my college English courses. I hope you’ll consider her as your tutor!!!””

“Tim always had my questions answered in the portal before the tutoring session began and was very flexible with his appointment times. He has a great personality and is very easy to get along with! Tim helped me increase my score by 16 points since my previous attempt at the MCAT last year. He also tremendously helped me with my personal statement and other essays for my medical school applications. He gave me helpful advice of how to rearrange my personal statement and fixed several minor mistakes in each of my essays. Thank you, Tim!!”

Sally

“One of my admission consultant’s best attributes is his selfless personality. He has always been willing to help and answer all of my questions regarding the MCAT, application, and personal statement. He is genuinely just trying to give back to the pre-med community rather than take your money. Often times, I lose my motivation and think more pessimistically about my progress than I would like, however meeting with him regularly has given me the motivation to push harder and stay positive.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What are sessions like?

  •  Simple Communication. By sharing an Admissions Portal and Application Spreadsheet with your Admissions Consultant, everything can be seen and edited instantly. Some sessions also use video calls for better collaboration, idea generation, or interview prep.
  • Expert Advice. Our highly trained Admissions Consultants have combined to help hundreds of students with their applications, and each Admissions Consultant had a 97th percentile or higher MCAT score and multiple medical school acceptances from top programs.

What can be covered in one consulting session?

A single consulting session has enough time to review over 5,000 characters worth of essays, meaning that an entire Personal Statement could be reviewed in one session. A single session could also be used as a mock interview for a medical school or CASPer.

How does interview preparation work?

You will begin with a roughly 30-minute mock interview with your consultant. Your consultant provides feedback and suggestions for improvement and will follow up with tips about the interview process. Your consultant will also examine your answers to questions, assess speaking style, possible nervous reactions, content of your answers based on your specific background, and get you comfortable with a variety of interview questions.

How often will I meet with a an admissions consultant? How does scheduling a session work?

The great thing about our program is that it offers you the flexibility to work at your own pace and on your own schedule. You do not need to meet with your consultant at the same time every week for a set number of weeks. You are able to choose any available consulting slot from your consultant’s calendar, whether that slot is two months from now or two days from now. You choose the time that works for you! Students love having this flexibility.

How does essay editing work?

For your personal statement, you can elect to make your first session focused on going through your life story to begin brainstorming the perfect essay. After drafting your essay, you will be able to walk through it with, and have it revised by your consultant. Every medical school applicant has multiple people reading their personal statements, and they often get conflicting information on how to improve their writing. Before submitting your AMCAS or AACOMAS application, it is important that your personal statement will have been thoroughly polished by an Admissions Consultant who has had direct experience working with top-notch candidates.

After that, you can schedule a your first session at your convenience so that you can discuss your needs with one of our Elite Admissions Consultants in a one-on-one setting.

Can I defer my payment or pay in increments over time?
